Waterloo County Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by illegible clergyman, a ministers of the Church of the United Brethren, for the year ending 31st December AD 1860

John Culme, 21, born and residing Beverly. Parents William and Margaret.
Emily Sipes, 21, born and residing Beverly. Parents Nelson and Henrietta.
Witnesses J. B. Schlichter and Jane Hamacher, both of Blair.
On 13 March 1860.

A United Brethern Church was at Sheffield in Beverly Township, close to where the Culhams and Sipes resided. There is some evidence that there were also congregations at Blair and Freeport in Waterloo Township. That this marriage was recorded in the Waterloo County marriage registration doesn't always make it certain that the marriage was performed in Waterloo County, but with this marriage it seems likely and the ceremony may have been held at Blair. Barring a newspaper article, the exact location of the marriage may not be found.
