Home District Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Robert Corson, a minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Canada. Received on the 21st and registered on the 24th of July, 1835.

Jesse Jones of King Township and Harriet Egan of Whitchurch Township, were married on Oct. 15th, 1834, after the publication of banns.
Witnesses Matthew Love and Isaac Vanhorn.

As with many district marriages, the exact place of marriage is not given. Jesse's obituary, however, locates the marriage in King Township. See notes under Jesse.

The majority of the residences of couples in the record are in townships located north of Toronto in what is now York County.

Robert Corson appears elsewhere in this tree. He is the son of Daniel Corson and Rebecca Lawrason. A history of Robert appears in the book Father Corson by Rev. John Carroll, Toronto, 1879, and tells us that he served the church on the Yonge Street Circuit. He may have resided at Richmond Hill, but he will have visited local congregations on horseback.
