The original birth registration had some spelling problems. A correction was filed on January 10, 1957, by Winfield, and the spellings are taken from the correction.

The Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society provides in PDF format pages of newspaper clippings from the pages of the Burford Times and Advance newspapers. The clippings do not show the specific newspaper.

The obituary for Winfield is dated May 21, 1975. This tells that he died at the Brantford General Hospital in Brantford on May 12, 1975. His residence is shown as 52 King Street West in Burford. He farmed most of his life until his retirement to Burford in 1961. His funeral was held in Burford on May 14, 1975, and the obituary tells that he was buried in Burford Pioneer Cemetery.
