Along with the date of marriage, the biographical sketch also provides us with dates of birth for John and Isabel. It also provides us with a date of birth for daughter Helen and mentions her marriage to Joseph Webb. The biographical sketch is taken up at least by half with an account of John's father Alexander. The biographical sketch does not provide us with a place of marriage. The records of First Church at Galt provide a running list of 1850 marriages and they are not listed there. |

| Note | Death reg. 017778-94 Galt, Waterloo County Isabella McPherson Buchanan died 4 Oct. 1894. Age 67, married woman. Presbyterian. Born Caledonia, New York. Informant Theron Buchanan. It should be noted that Theron Buchanan, John's brother, gave Isabel's place of birth as Caledonia, New York. Helen Buchanan Webb's son-in-law, Thomas Hall, gave Helen's mother's place of birth as Rochester. Caledonia isn't very far from Rochester and is rather the smaller place. Most likely Caledonia is correct. |
