Some First Church, Galt, baptisms are to be found on microfilm GS2987 at the Archives of Ontario. This tells that Ruth Miller McKenzie was born on June 10th, 1897, and baptized on August 22, 1897. This was a Sunday so we must believe that she was baptized in the church. Ruth taught for the Galt School Board at Central School for many years. With thanks to the website Waterloo Region Generations which has reproduced a death notice from the Cambridge Reporter. This dates her death to Thursday, January 11, 1996, at St. Luke's Place in Cambridge/Hespeler. She was in her 99th year and his sisters are shown as Olive Brown of Cambridge and Margaret Taugher of Brantford. Her funeral was held on Satujrday, January 13, 1996, at the St. Luke's Place chapel. Her burial was in Mountview Cemetery. |
