In the 1920 census, Ellavern's name is given as Eloise. Her married name is of course that of Frederick - Plotz, or Platz as it is actually shown. The 1930 census shows Frederick and Ellavern Plotts in Detroit. He is shown as an attorney. There can be no doubt that Ellavern is the daughter of Henry Vrooman and Nettie Bement, but, incomprehensibly, in this census, their ages are given as a good ten years older than they really are.

According to information provided by a family member, Frederick and Ellavern were divorced. Ellavern then married a John Kiernan of Ohio who was a Captain during World War II.
