At first glance, the place of birth for Peter Gillies appears to be Kilmichael, Glasgow. A closer look shows it not to be Glasgow, but Glassary. This is in Argyllshire, Scotland.

Page 49 of Hugh Cant's Historical Reminiscences of Galt and Other Writings, has photos of former pastors of Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt, one of them being Dr. Thomson, 1861-1864.
