| Note | George's father is said to be Francis Hogg. George and Isabella, newly married, are in Galt at the time of the 1851 census. With them is an Ellen Hogg, spinster, age 21, and likely George's sister. Also in Galt are James Hogg, age 29, pail maker, and his wife Barbara, age 34, and children Christiana age 8, Francis age 7, Margaret age 5, and Archibald age 3. James is likely a brother of George, considering that in later years George has a son Francis. The stone at Mountview Cemetery in Galt has family members inscribed on the four sides. This includes George's parents. Their inscription reads: (North side) Francis Hogg/died 1841/his wife/Margaret Brydon/died 1860/Natives of Selkirkshire/Scotland/George Hogg/1860-1932/his wife/Agnes Ford/1862-1946 (West side) George Hogg/died Dec 29, 1904 in his 79th year/ Isabella Scott/his wife/died Jan 20, 1912, in her 82nd year/Elsie Roberta Hogg/died Mar 3, 1967 in her 82nd year. The Dumfries Reformer issue of July 18, 1860, has a death notice for: Mrs. Hogg, died July 15, 1860, in Dumfries, age 64, mother of George and James Hogg. Death reg. 028395-04 Galt, Waterloo Co.
