Note | At the time of the 1900 census taken at Los Angeles, Thomas and Jessie are there with their two sons. According to the census form, it would seem that they left Canada shortly after their marriage. Their first child was born in California the next year. The 1900 census gives birth dates and Jessie's is given as October 13, 1866. Since her father died in November of 1865, this doesn't seem reasonable. Her middle name on her marriage registration is given as Lake and she is shown in the Los Angeles 1900 census as Jessie L. Henry. The name Lake would seem to confirm her as a member of the family, for the Lakes were cousins to the Burnets and Scotts. This tree shows her birth year as 1865 until further information shows otherwise. The family of four is still shown in Los Angeles at the time of the 1910 census. In 1900, Jessie shows 2 children born and 2 living. In 1910 she shows 3 born and 2 living. In 1920, Thomas and Jessie are still in Los Angeles and Elwood is with them. In 1930, Thomas and Jessie are still in Los Angles. Son Elwood Alexander is shown as Albert E. This would appear to be an error. |
