Davidson, 30 Lansdowne Rd. N., Galt, Presbyterian. The above registration gives us Isabella's middle name, the surname of her grandmother, Isabella Redpath. This does not appear on her birth registration. The intended place of marriage on the right hand side of the form indicates that the intended place of marriage was R. R. #7, Galt. This was in North Dumfries Township and the postal address of Isabella's parents. On the left side of the form the place of marriage is given as North Dumfries, so the marriage will have been at the parents' home. John's place of birth is shown as R. R. #2, Ayr. This will have been his family's postal address. The 1891 census shows young John with his parents, Robert and Annie Cochran, in North Dumfries. Also present is his younger brother, Martin, who appears as a witness. Ayr is in North Dumfries. It is possible that there were some rural route postal addresses in Blenheim Township in Oxford County, but we may safely locate the Cochrans in North Dumfries. |
