The parents' names are not shown, but her name is shown on the stone of the family's plot in Section 2 of Mountview Cemetery as Jane Ann Ferguson, daughter of Duncan and Margaret Ferguson, died 30 April 1861 in the 15th year of her age. The baptism record appears on UCA's microfilm LCM-30.
Census information isn't much help in recording Jane Ann. The 1851 census shows Duncan and family in Galt and her name appears to be presented as Joanna. The 1861 census has Duncan and Margaret in North Dumfries. This census was begun in early January and Jane Ann does not appear to be present, yet she died in April of the year. |
