Given that the 1837 letter from a Kendal lawyer to John Mattison Leece in Dumfries Township, Upper Canada, identifies him as the son of Elizabeth, sister of Edward Mattison, and of her husband John Leece and since John Mattison Leece was born nearby in 1769, this tree accepts that John and Elizabeth are the parents of John Mattison Leece.
