Note | John Leece never married. This researcher has two photos of John. He was quite incapacitated toward the end of his life and in the photos (one being in a wheelchair) his legs appear quite thin. He was a cabinet maker. He made a secretary chest, rolling pin, and china cabinet that are in the possession of the family. The china cabinet was in bad shape and used by a family member for storing such things as paint. At some point, it was refurbished and any broken panes of glass replaced. Some of the panes are the original rolled glass. Death reg. 001255-79 South Dumfries, Brant Co. John Leece died March 20, 1879. Age 74. Gentleman (retired). Presbyterian. Born New York State. Physician Dr. Smith. Informant John Buchanan, farmer, South Dumfries. John Leece was living with John Buchanan in South Dumfries as of the 1871 census. |
