| Note | An old, cancelled passport of Ruth's gives her place of birth as Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India, on 18 November, 1893. Ruth never married. It is understood that she spent most of her life teaching and is said to have taught French at Oakwood Collegiate on St. Clair Avenue West, in Toronto, around the time of the First World War. A date of death for Ruth is not available, but she died in 1980 or shortly thereafter. Her sister Edith returned to Canada after Ruth's death. Ruth is buried near her cottage which was near Mussoorie in Northern India. Her sister Edith's ashes were returned to India after her death and placed beside Ruth. |
