Note | Margaret's year of birth is unclear. We find three different records of her age. The 1871 census apparently shows her age as being considerably younger than apparent reality. A transcription of her grave is being sought and may give a clearer story. Meanwhile, 1822 squares with with the 1851 census and her death registration. Death reg. 017290-80 Arthur Twp., Wellington Co. Margaret Clarke died 24 December 1880. Age 58, farmer's wife, born Co. Cavan, Ireland. Death by drowning, caused by insanity. Informant Rev. Joseph Deacon, Arthur Village. Margaret was a Methodist. The Clark family resided at C7-L24, which is at the south end of the township and not far from Arthur Village. Considering that the informant, Rev. Deacon, was located in Arthur Village, they probably attended church services there. |
