| Note | We take Charlotte's maiden name - Kirkpatrick - from the 1947 booklet History of the People of Troy. Death reg. 015438-76 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. Charlotte Wood died March 17, 1876. Age 83. Methodist. Widow of late Saml Wood. Born Vermont, U.S. Informant Peter Wood, lumber merchant, Beverly. The 1861 census shows Charlotte's place of birth as New Jersey. Her death registration as filed by son Peter shows her place of birth as Vermont. The gravestone in Mt. Zion Cemetery does show Charlotte's date of birth, but does not show the place. It does show Samuel's place of birth as Lime, Vermont. As noted above, Peter Wood reported Charlotte's death in Beverly Township in 1876. Charlotte has not been found in the 1871 census. The 1947 History of the People of Troy provides a list of 9 children of Samuel and Charlotte. There are three children buried in Copetown Cemetery and they are not mentioned in the list, but a Philip and a Martin are mentioned and they may just be the Charles P Wood and George M. Wood buried at Copetown. Both were adults at the times of their deaths. |
