| Note | See Dickson Papers, MS5 reel 3, Ledger C, page 76. The first entry is an indecipherable month in 1826 and apparently brought forward from another ledger. It refers to a transaction wherein it appears that Smith 'Cornwell' has purchased 50 acres on lot 2 in the 4th concession of Dumfries. 50 acres is a quarter of a township lot. The entry would appear to make it the north east quarter, but this is not entirely legible. It seems safe to say that this is Smith Cornell and the document places Smith on this property at least as early as 1826. |
