In the space for remarks below, registrar Wallace McDonald has written to the effect that Minetta was sometimes known as Minetta Mount, but also as Minetta Duncan. McDonald goes on to say that 'Duncan' was the reported father (though no birth registration has been found as being 'reported'.)

Minetta's maiden name is reported as Duncan on the birth registrations of her children Wilfred and Vera Nixon.

The birthdates for Alexander and Minetta and the names and dates for the children are from the 1901 census taken at East Flamborough.

NoteNo birth registration for Minnetta has been found. She is in the James H. Coleman household in Beverly Township at the time of the 1881 census and she is shown as six years old with the surname Coleman. On January 1, 1884, Gomer married Leonard Mount and and the 1891 census taken at West Flamboro shows Minnetta as Minetta Mount. Her age is given as 16.

In 1893, Minnetta Coleman married Alexander Nixon at Lynden in Beverly Township. The township clerk, Wallace McDonald, wrote a note at the bottom of the marriage registration with regard to her maiden names, or names, and how she was known. He states that, as well as Coleman, she sometimes gave her name as Mount and sometimes as Duncan. Certainly, her maiden name is shown as Duncan on the birth registrations of her children, Wilfred and Vera. Also, one registration shows her middle name as Rosabel. (Her full name, Minetta Lavinia Rosabella Coleman, was provided by a granddaughter.)

The birth registration of daughter Edith Horsley has yet to be examined.

Minetta married William Horsley at Hamilton in 1910. Her marriage registration, a typed form, is odd. It shows her father as Leonard, but with no surname. It shows her mother with the surname Colman, but no given name.

In the 1911 census, William and Minetta are in Welland with Wilfred and Vera Nixon.

Minetta's birth place is given as Beverly Twp. on her marriage to Alexander Nixon. This makes some sense, however, on a border crossing into the U.S. in 1943 she gives Sarnia as her place of birth.

Her grandaughter tells that Minnetta had an excellent relationship with her step father, Leonard Mount, and her sister Ethel. She also enjoyed regular visits with her Aunt Boadicea who lived in St. Catharines.
