There were, inadvertantly, two death registrations for Ida: One filed by the doctor and one by her father. Death reg. 001175-75 South Dumfries, Brant County Alberta Babcock died Oct. 8th, 1875. Age 4 yrs and 2 mos. Farmer's daughter. Born South Dumfries. Cause of death diptheria 8 days. Physician and informant Frank Patton, M.D., St. George. Registered Nov. 8th, 1875. And Death reg. 001237-76 South Dumfries, Brant County Ida Alberta Babcock died Oct 8th, 1875. Age 4 yrs. and 2 mos. Farmer's daughter. Born South Dumfries. Diptheria. Physician Dr. Patton. Informant Charles Babcock, farmer, South Dumfries. Date registered January 17th, 1876. Ida was evidently buried in Sheffield Cemetery. Her brother Judson will have been buried with her when he died in 1898. Ida's mother died in 1905 and her father in 1913. We do not know if earlier stones were placed for Ida and Judson, but the transcription done Sheffield Cemetery by the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Cemetery indicates one stone was erected for the family. |
