Death reg. 016918-90 Waterloo Twp., Waterloo Co. George Douglas Hobbs died April 18, 1890. Age 6 yrs., 10 mos., 7 dys. Child of a minister. Born Ontario. Methodist. Informant Allen Bowman, Blair, Waterloo Twp. Allan Bowman at Blair was married to Nancy Bowman who, according to Ezra Eby, was Lida's sister. Lida died on 17 September, 1889; George died April 18, 1890; Richard didn't marry Delight Buckberrough until 7 October, 1890. George and at least some of his siblings - perhaps all - were in the care of their aunt and uncle at Blair until Richard remarried. Certainly, by this time, the Hobbs family burial plot was firmly established at Fairview Cemetery at Niagara Falls and so George went there for burial. Certainly, Lida's brother-in-law, Allan, must have been popular with the Hobbs family, for in 1886 they named a son after him. In their turn, in 1871, Allan and Nancy Bowman named a daughter Lida. She survived until 1958 and is buried with her parents at Blair. Morse Funeral Home Records in Stamford Township shows Douglas Hobbs funeral on April 21, 1890. |
