Death reg. 001280-76 South Dumfries, Brant Co.
Jacob Muma died Sept. 27, 1876. Age 99. Farmer. Cause of death old age, 2 days. Born United States. Informant Michael Muma, farmer, South Dumfries. Registered on Oct. 9th, 1876.

David Baptie, the registrar for South Dumfries, in the space for remarks at the bottom of the form places the interesting comment:

'Had to prosecute Michael Muma and then could not get the information very satisfactorily.'

This is interesting if only to note that prosecution was an avenue for obtaining the required information. Beyond this, it's difficult to see where the information falls short for it accords well with information provided on other death registrations on the page. Jacob has been found, so far, in only the every person census of 1871 where is age is given as 89. Given the inaccuracies of age in the record, it's difficult to see wherein this might have caused difficulty.

The transcription of the Baptist Cemetery as provided by the Brant Co Branch of the OGS shows Jacob dying on Sept. 27, 1878. This may be a typographical error for Murray Fair's transcription, as it appears on Interment.net shows the death date as 27 September, 1876. A photo of the stone on Find-a-Grave, however, shows the the last digit of the year as such that it could almost be anything. Since the death registration dates Jacob's death to 1876 and this is confirmed by the same year for the date of registration, we may take it that Jacob died in 1876.
