| Note | Death reg. 010620-73 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. George Mulholland died January 9, 1873, age 58. Farmer. Born Ontario. Physician Dr. Mainwaring. Informant Wellington Mulholland, farmer, Beverly. Methodist. The Hamilton Branch of the OGS transcribes George's stone in Troy Cemetery thus: Geo. Mulholland/died June 9 1873/aged 58 yrs. & 29 dys. If this is indeed accurate, then his date of birth was 11 December, 1814. At first glance, proofs seem slim that George Mulholland was the son of Hugh Mulholland and Mary Wedge. We receive reasonable confirmation of this, however, with the 1861 census at Beverly Township. There, George and Jennett are present with their children. Immediately following their family are the names Hugh Mulholland and his wife Mary, 84 and 75 respectively. It is possible that they are living in a separate dwelling, or they may share the same. Either way, at 84 and 75, Hugh and Mary are no doubt with a younger family member, in the event, George. |
