Aaron Stringer, 68, widower, farmer, Methodist. Born Crowland, residing Woodhouse. Parents Margaret and Robert Stringer. Rachel Hager, 64, widow, Methodist. Born Trafalgar, residing Port Dover. Parents Peter and Lydia Shuck. Witnesses Robert Stringer and Wesley Stringer, both of Port Dover, on July 31st, 1878, at Port Dover by Rev. James Gray. |

Note | The following obituary is to be found in Vol. 12, Obituaries from the Christian Guardian, 1896-1900, Donald A. McKenzie, Global Heritage Press, 2013. Stringer, Mrs. Rachael, nee Shook, was b. in Trafalgar tp, May 20, 1814, md. David Hager in 1832, and had 2 sons and 2 drs by him. Mr. and Mrs. H. were the first settlers at what is now Hagersville. The obituary goes on to say that David Hager died in 1869 and that in 1878 she married Aaron Stringer of Port Dover. She died January 24, 1900, at the residence of her daughter Mrs. T. Haskett of Simcoe. Norfolk County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has the following transcription of stones in Woodhouse United Cemetery: 17.
