Note | The record of Elizabeth's brief life is taken from the handwritten genealogy of Lawrence Lawrason as found in the Lawrason Papers at the University of Western Ontario. See page 27 of Delores MacIntyre's work Some Records of the Lawrason Family. Her father shows her date of death as 16 May, 1838, and this is the same as shown on her gravestone in St. Paul's Cathedral Burying Ground. If the layout of graves is correctly reflected in the transcription done of this cemetery by the London & Middlesex Branch of the OGS, then Elizabeth is buried beside her grandfather Lawrence Lawrason Sr., who died on 9 March, 1830. The baptism of Elizabeth Showers Lawrason is recorded in the records of St. Paul's Cathedral for October 7, 1832. The record shows her birth as being on August 28, 1832. This is at variance with the Lawrason Papers record, but since the baptism record is clear enough in terms of context, we must believe the child to have been born in 1832. The record appears on Familysearch film 008097003. Most of the reel is for other parishes. St. Paul's records begin on image 1218 and Elizabeth's baptism appears on image 1250. The record is a typed transcription done by Orlo Miller, possibly in 1940. There is a note at the bottom of the page that no baptisms were performed during July and August of the year for reason of an epidemic of Asiatic Cholera. |
