Clark, both of Troy in Beverly. On April 15, 1874, at Troy in Beverly, by Rev. W. G. Benson, M.E. minister. The marriage registration for Emerson and Eliza Jane is written in Wallace McDonald's typical difficult script. That Emerson's middle name may be interpreted as 'Bristol' is not immediately apparent, but, after reading his death registration, which identifies him as Emerson Bristol Warner, it suddenly becomes clear enough as written on the marriage registration. The Methodist church at Troy was Episcopal Methodist. This was prior to amalgamation with the Wesleyan Methodists. One difference between the two lines of Methodism is that the Episcopal Methodists had bishops and the Wesleyans did not. |

| Note | In 1874, Emerson and Eliza Jane were married in Beverly Township and they are still there as of the 1881 census. By 1891, they are in Guelph and they appear on the same census page as Eliza's sister Elizabeth and her husband John Sunley. They are still in Guelph at the time of the 1901, 1911, and 1921 censuses. According to their death registrations, they spent their last years in Toronto. Death reg. 007409-33 Toronto, York Co. Emerson Bristol Warner, died November 18, 1933. Place of death and residence 2226 Dundas St. West, Toronto. Canadian. Born Wentworth on July 31, 1851. Age 82 years, 3 months, 18 days. Retired. At place of death 3 years, in province life.
