| Note | Eliza Scates, age 4, appears with her parents Charles and Betsy Scates, both born Vermont, in the 1850 census in Dryden, Lapeer Co., Michigan. They are buried in South Dryden Cemetery, Dryden, Lapeer Co., per Find-a-Grave. A stone has survived in plot 16 in South Dryden Pioneer Cemetery, Dryden, Lapeer Co., Michigan, and a photo of which appears on Find-a-Grave. It reads: Eliza, wife of Alonzo Lawrison, died June 30, 1867. Eliza is evidently buried with daughter Minny. The one other child of Eliza's whom we may reasonably document is her son Fred Alonzo Lawrason. Fred in a marriage registration records that his mother was Eliza Scates, and, given his age, 14, in the 1880 census in Bliss, Emmet Co., Michigan, this is reasonable. |
