NoteTitus Geer Simons' first wife was Elizabeth Green. A record of their marriage is to be found in the marriage record of Robert Addison of St. Mark's Anglican Church at Niagara Town (later Niagara-on-the-Lake). It's very brief and reads:

Weddings Niagara 1798
Titus Simons bachr. and Elizabeth Green spr. 3 June 1798

We have no record of Elizabeth Green's death, nor has a record been found of Titus' marriage to Hannah Coon Van Every. For the moment, the best that can be said is that since Matilda, shown as the daughter of Titus and Hannah was baptized in 1815, they would have been married a few years prior, probably before the War of 1812, wherein Titus served.

Titus was severely wounded at the Battle of Lundy's Lane in July of 1814.

Titus G. Simons was a sheriff of the Gore District and at one time had a charge of assault brought against him. A lawyer was taken from his home and tarred and feathered for what were believed to be political reasons and Simons was found guilty and fined.
