Note | When Amelia Lawrason Moe, the first wife of John Wesley Moe, died in 1850, she had a daughter Tressa Amelia Moe. Tressa is found in the care of John Wesley Moe's sister Clarissa Moe Parsons in Galt at the time of the 1851 census. It can't have been long thereafter that the child went to the care of her maternal grandfather John Purvis Lawrason and his second wife Hannah Kitchen. Certainly, Tressa, shown by her second given name Amelia, is found with John and Hannah in the 1861 census in South Dumfries. John died in 1865, but Amelia, by this time about 15, must have stayed with Hannah. Tressa married George Agnew about 1870 and Hannah is with them in Brantford Township at the time of the 1871 census. We must believe that she remained with them until her death the following year.
