Laverne appears in the 1881 census in Beverly at age 6 months with his parents Charles and Nancy. The family has not been found in the Canadian census of 1891. (Father Charles was killed in a work related accident while working for the railroad in Port Huron, Michigan. It is possible that the family was living there of the time, but no record has been found. The 1890 U.S. census has not survived.) Laverne, however, is shown in 1891 with his Mulholland grandparents, Hugh and Lucinda, in Beverly Township. He is shown as age 10. He last appears in a Canadian census in 1901 and is shown as Laverne Coleman, age 20, with his mother Nancy in Galt. In any census information found, he does not use his first name Coy. |
