NoteA marriage record or index for William Estlick and Alfina Roberts has not been found. Interestingly, the evidence is that they left Cornwall and spent a year or more in Michigan. This would have been after the time of their marriage, though it is possible that they ran away to be married and the place of their marriage has not yet been found.

The 1891 census at Perranzabuloe in Cornwall shows daughter Millicent as being 1 year and 6 months of age and gives her place of birth as America, Michigan. A birth registration for Millicent has been found which dates her birth to October 2, 1889, at Iron Mountain, Menominee County, Michigan. William is described as a miner. The family's stay in Michigan must have been of short duration, for by the time of the 1891 census in Cornwall, Willia, Alfina and Millicent are back in Perranzabuloe.

In the UK census for 1901, William is not found, though still believed living. He was likely working away, for daughter Emily appears on a passenger list for the Mauritania in 1924 and gives her UK contact as her father, W. Estlick, and locates him in St. Dennis, Cornwall.
The 1901 census does, however, locate Alfina in Perranzabuloe and the list of children has been great added to in the decade since the 1891 census. The birth places for their children also gives some indication of where the family's travels took them.

Daughter Millicent, age 11, is still with them and her birth place still shown as America; daughter Elizabeth, age 9, is shown as being born in Perranzabuloe; son William J., age 8, and daughter Mary, age 6, are shown as being born in St. Columb; Emily L., age 4, Alvina J., age 2, and Samuel J., age 2 (twins?), are all shown as being born in Perranzabuloe. It should be noted that the 1901 census shows the family name as Eastlake. Families in the locale do seem to have used family given names to a degree that makes research a challenge, but Millicent's presence in the family and her place of birth clinches the matter.

William Estlick may be the William Estlick that died at age 88 in St. Austell, Cornwall.
