| Note | Dates of birth and death for George and Rachel are taken from a transcription of the Jones family stone in Copetown Cemetery. Their names appear on the same stone as that of Andrew and Mary. Son Robert's inscription appears here as well. An obituary for George Jones is to be found in: Obituaries from the Christian Guardian, 1896 to 1900, Donald A. McKenzie, Global Heritage Press, 2013, page 229. It states that he was born in Beverly Township and that he married Rachel Kitchen in 1833. His dates of birth and death are given and agree with those shown on his gravestone. It says that he died at the residence of J.W. Betzner of West Flamboro. The obituary also says that George was predeceased by two children in infancy and that he was survived by three sons and four daughters. Death reg. 023001-98 West Flamboro, Wentworth County George Jones died Sept 20, 1898, age 90 yrs, 3 mos., 1 dy. Gentleman. Born Canada. Methodist. Informant J. W. Betzner. |
