Patience Clapp
ID # 2247, (1835-1903)
Birth | Patience Clapp was born in 1835. |
Marriage | She married James Johnston. A marriage record for James Johnston and Patience Clapp has yet to be found. For the moment, the best we may say is that they were married after the 1861 census but prior to the birth of daughter Annie in 1866. |
Death | She died in 1903. |
Burial | She was buried at Cedarvale Cemetery, Cannington, Brock Twp., Ontario Co.. |
Note | A history of Patience' family is presented in Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte, Rolph and Clark Ltd. Toronto. It tells of her marriage to James Johnston and states that they settled at Cannington. Certainly, they lived in Brock Township. Their land records have yet to be researched, but they were likely rather east of Cannington and nearer the village of Wilfrid. They appear to have lived near there at the time of the death of James Johnston. Page 197 names Patience' children and their spouses, which agrees with such census and marriage records as we can find. The Quinte history tells that Patience' parents' names were George Clapp and Mary Herbert. Patience' gravestone in Cedarvale Cemetery, Cannington, Brock Township, is quite readable. |
