Note | Jane Ann Root was first married to Lewen Tugwell Robins (or Robbins) on 9 January, 1889, in Lobo Township of Middlesex County. Lewen died on May 1st, 1892. Their first born was Orlando Lewen Robins, born 5 October 1889. For Orlando we find a birth registration and he was with his mother's second family, shown as a Vrooman, in the 1911 census at Port Arthur. The 1901 census at Caradoc Township indicates that after Lewen's death, she bore him a second child, a daughter, on August 14, 1892. Her name is barely decipherable, but appears to be something like Mersline, or Mershine - a family member gives her name as Marcelline. No birth registration has been found for her. It has been found that on October 28, 1908, Marcelline married Frederick Anderson in Port Huron, Michigan. By the time of the 1910 census, she resides in Port Huron with daughter Eveline and with her Anderson in-laws. She is shown as a widow. She can't have remained long in Port Huron, Michigan, for by 1912 she is residing in Fort William in the Thunder Bay District. She married James Patrick Sarsfield Potter on 17 January 1912. In October of 1912, she bore him a son Kenneth Potter. |
