Note | Jacob Vrooman and Rachel Van Woert are entered into this tree along with information for them as shown in The Vrooman Family in America, prepared by Grace Vrooman Wickersham, Juneau, Alaska, and Ernest Bernard Comstock, F.I.A.G., Dallas, Texas, 1949. This early information must be accepted as is for this researcher is in no position to adequately research the early United States Vroomans. Jacob and Rachel are entered here for purposes of showing the siblings of Adam Vrooman, the United Empire Loyalist, for we can document that at least one of them, along with Adam, fetched up in Canada after the American Revolution. This almost certainly extends to two of them and one or two others who are, for the moment, of uncertain connection. This does not include the Vroomans who, though no doubt cousins, settled in Earnesttown at some point after the War of 1812. We quote here from page 33 of the 1949 book: 43. Jacob W. Vrooman (6 Wouter), bp Aug. 24, 1717, m. May 29, 1743, Rachel Van Woert, b 1724, dau of Nicholas Van Woert and Dirkje Barheit. On July 15, 1749, Rachel Vrooman, wife of Jacob Vrooman, was received as a member of the Dutch Reformed Church at Schoharie. In 1750 Jacob Vrooman was one of the deacons of the Church of Schoharie. |
