Note | When Aaron Ellis was married in 1885, he was shown as a farmer residing in West Garafraxa Township. By 1891, Aaron and Mary are in the Village of Hespeler in Waterloo South where Aaron was working in a woollen mill. Mary is shown as being born in the U.S. With them is daughter Mable, 9 months. The family has not been found in the Canadian census of 1901 or the U.S. census of 1900, but they appear in the 1910 census in Wellington Township, Bottineau County, North Dakota, where they are farming. With them are children Mable 18, Logan 17 (both born in Canada), and Marvin 7, born in North Dakota. Aaron and Mary are still in Bottineau County at the time of the 1915 North Dakota State Census, son Marvin being with them. Find-a-Grave provides us with a burial and date of death for Mary in 1916. She is buried in Willow City Memorial Cemetery in Bottineau County. In 1920, Aaron appears in the census taken at Wellington Township with son Marvin. For some incomprehsible reason, his place of birth is shown as 'At Sea'. His year of immigration is shown as 1897. Aaron is still living at the time of the 1925 North Dakota State census. In it, he is shown as still being with son Marvin, who is now apparently married to Laura. They have a son Lloyd, age 1. Aaron does not appear to be living by the time of the U.S. 1930 census. A stone for him as not been found in Find-a-Grave's record for Willow City Memorial Cemetery, though other family members are there. |
