NoteWe know little of Eliza Cassady. Her name appears on Rowena's marriage registration and is no doubt correct. The family name Cassady appears in land records as being on Concession A in Westminster Township. Eliza was of childbearing years, for she bore Rowena and, at the time Charles' will was written, she was expecting another child.

Charles' will is dated 14 December, 1855. Charles died the day he signed his will, per one of the papers signed by executor John Cassady. He erred in showing the year as 1856, but since he and the rest of the executors dated their papers in January of 1856, we must take the year of death for Charles as 1855. On the 3rd day of November, 1856, the executors, acting as the executors for both Charles and Eliza Person, entered into an agreement of sale with Peter Filman of the Township of Barton. This statement is made in the margin of the Surrogate Court clerk's memorial and dated 24 December 1856.

Eliza's name appears on the same stone in section H5 of Hamilton Cemetery as that of Charles and Arabella. Her years of birth and death are shown as 1827-1859. 1859 may be correct, but if the stone was erected at some point in later years, then her exact year of death may have been forgotten. Since the stone in Hamilton Cemetery shows her year of death as 1859, that is shown here.

The only further note that may be made is that the 'unborn child' referred to in Charles' will was likely safely born by Eliza and was named John. It looks as though he was living with executor John Knowles of Delaware Township, Middlesex County, as of the 1861 census. John Knowles' wife, Mary Ann, was a Blain, and likely a relative of Frederick Blain of Puslinch Township. Frederick has James and Charles Person with him at the time of the 1861 census.

John is shown as J.P. Pearson, age 5, with the John Knowles family in the 1861 census in Delaware Township. The Knowles came from Flamborough West Township and returned there, apparently to the town of Dundas, by the time of the 1871 census. With them is a son John, age 15, shown as a Knowles. The logic is that he is the son of Charles Person and Eliza Casseday, but this needs further research. No later record for him to this point has been found.
