Residence at place of death 8 months. Parentage unknown, but both parents said to have been born Ireland. Informant D.M. Allan, RR1, Fergus. Burial June 18th, 1924, at Elora. Billion Graves provides us with a photo of Mary's stone in Elora Municipal Cemetery. It reads Mary Connor/ wife of/ Jas. Vrooman/Dec. 25, 1853/June 16, 1924/At Rest. James does not appear to be buried with her. Also, it's evident that Mary's age, 88, as stated on her death registration is wildly wrong. Looking at Mary's age as shown, 28, in the 1880 U.S. census at Big Prairie, Newaygo County, Michigan, a birth year of 1853 is likely about right and would agree with what is inscribed on her gravestone. Also, her place of birth in the 1880 census is shown as Ireland and this, not Puslinch Township, is likely correct. |
