NoteAt first glance, it is difficult to justify the inclusion of Rowena in the list of children for Charles and Arabella Person. Rowena's marriage registration presents her father as Charles Person, but her mother as Eliza. Her birth is shown as being in Westminster (Township), essentially London, Ontario. Her age at the time of her marriage and the 1901 and 1911 censuses would place her birth in 1854 or 1855. This is well after the 1851 census at Hamilton from where we derive our initial list of the Person children.

After this, however, the evidence improves. Rowena, in census records, consistently gives her ethnic origin as French. Her supposed siblings frequently do likewise. The marriage of her daughter Elsie in 1892 would appear to be the clincher, for one of the witnesses is Maud Person. Maud's residence is not given, but the only other Maud Person found in searching the records is the daughter of James Person. James and daughter Maud were still in Guelph as of the 1891 census, though were in Hamilton by the time of the 1901 census. Maud was 18 as of the 1891 census and would seem a reasonable age to be a friend of her first cousin Elsie. Since we have reasonable evidence that James Person was a son of Charles and Arabella, the connection makes Rowena's inclusion in the family reasonable.

Further information has been found regarding land transactions on Concession B, lot 50, in Westminster Township. Charles Person purchased a portion of this lot along with a substantial amount of other land amounting to 316 acres. This was in November of 1852. A will is mentioned dated December of 1855 leaving this land to Eliza Person. The next transaction shows the sale of the land in November of 1856 by John Bowman et al. This is likely the John Bowman who has Ellen Person with him in his household in the 1861 census in West Flamboro. The land transaction may indicate the names of all the beneficiaries of the sale of the land. It would appear that Eliza Cassady Person is deceased by this time.
