Note | Birth reg. 040279-94 Toronto, York Co. 23 April 1894, George Henry Bond, s/o James A. Bond, painter, and Amelia Skoyles. Informant James A. Bond, 4 Graham St.
On the 10th of May, 1918, George Henry Bond was evidently in Toronto, for on this date he signed his attestation papers for joining the Canadian Army. He gives his current address as 3010 Clarendon Rd., Brooklyn, N.Y. He shows his next-of-kin as James Bond of 228 De Grassi Street, Toronto. He shows his date of birth as 23 April 1894 and his place of birth as Toronto. He gives his trade as mantle cutter. The reverse of the form shows his medical examination as the same date, but in New York City. There is obviously a dating error. Whether George actually joined the Canadian Army isn't clear. There is a border crossing record for Gilbert Bond accompanied by father William. It simply states that Gilbert is en route to visit with his uncle, but does not say who or where. This may be someone other than George. |
