Iris Hope Van Sickle
ID # 1042, (1895-1973)
Birth | Iris Hope Van Sickle was born on 22 February 1895 at North Dumfries Township, Waterloo Co.. |
Marriage | She married James Ira Hammond, son of Robert Hammond and Margaret Jane Patrick, on 9 June 1920 at Galt, Waterloo Co.. Mrge reg. 026092-20 Galt, Waterloo Co. James Ira Hammond, 25, bachelor, plumber, Presbyterian. Born Beverly, residing Galt. Parents Robert Hammond and Margaret Jane Patrick. Iris Hope Van Sickle, 25, spinster, bookkeeper, Baptist. Born Dumfries Township, residing RR1, Galt. Parents Peter Van Sickle and Lillian Grant. Witnesses Annie Van Sickle and James Van Sickle, both of RR1, Galt. At Galt (home of bride - so written), on 9th June, 1920, by A. A. Hovey, Galt, Baptist. It's entirely possible, perhaps even probable, that the marriage was held in North Dumfries, just on the outskirts of Galt. The showing of the location as RR1 Galt is probably the bride's postal address and, hence, may well have been in the township. The clergyman, however, locates the marriage in Galt. What does make the above issue (admittedly a bit of a quibble) unclear is that the 1921 census places the Peter Vansickle family in Galt, in the vicinity of the old Galt Hospital on St. Andrews Street. The street address is not well written, but is either 218 or 219 St. Andrews Street. The 1931 census, however, places the Peter Vansickle family in North Dumfries. Just where in North Dumfries isn't for the moment clear. |
Death | She died on 18 October 1973 at age 78. |
Burial | She was buried at Mountview Cemetery, Cambridge. |
