| Note | Birth reg. 006568-69 Norfolk Co. 12 Dec. 1869 Emily A. Wilcox, d/o Isaac G. Wilcox, farmer, and Elizabeth Burk. Emily is how her name is shown on her birth registration; it is shown as Emma on her marriage registration. The marriage registration page nowhere shows the township of registration. Registrations this early were apparently done at the county level, though it is usual to show the township where the event occurred.. The 1871 census shows Isaac, her father, as resident in Townsend Township in Norfolk County. For the present, Emily's place of birth is shown as Townsend. The 1881 census shows her name as Emily A. Wilcox. The family is also in Townsend at that time. Emily's parents are buried in Hartford Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend Twp. They appear to have had an earlier daughter named Emily. Only her date of death is shown on her stone - June 30, 1864. Emily's parents appear in the Norfolk County Marriage Register: Isaac B. Wilcox, born and residing Townsend, s/o John, married 28 Jan 1863 Elizabeth C. Burk, born and residing Walpole, d/o John. FamilySearch.org provides us with a transcription of Emily's death registration: Emily A. Buckborough died 11 July, 1945, at Evanston, Cook County, Illinois. Age 74. Father George Rinner, mother Elizabeth. Spouse Siegal Buckborough. The name shown for Emily's father would appear to be an error. Aside from the clarity of their marriage registration, the September 1, 1938, issue of the Waterford Star tells of Mr. and Mrs. S. Buckberrough of Chicago who travelled to Hartord (Townsend Township) for the Buckberrough-Wilcox family reunion. The story tells how they are the ones to originate the idea. |
