Henry Kratz
ID # 10064, (1833-1873)
Birth | Henry Kratz was born in 1833 at Dukedom of Hessia, Germany. |
Marriage | He married Anna Katharine Allensen on 25 July 1858 at Waterloo County, Canada West. MS248 reel 16, Vol. 75, page 19 Waterloo County Marriage Register Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Emmanuel Wurster of Preston, a minister of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church for the year ending 31st Day of December, A.D. 1858 Henry Kratz, 25, born (somewhat illegible, but may be...) Witzassen, G.D. Hessen (Germany). Residing Blenheim (a township in Oxford County). Parents Frederic and Ann E. Kratz. Anna K. Allensen, 24, born Wohnfeld, G.D. Hessen, residing Blenheim. Parents Henry and Catherine Allensen. Witnesses Conrad Allensen and Johann Allensen, apparently both of Blenheim. On July 25, 1858. Marriages recorded in the County Marriage Registers from this era do not typically show the exact place of marriage. Evidently the family's residence was in Blenheim Township of Oxford County, but the marriage is recorded in the Waterloo County register. They may very well have been married in the town of Preston (now a part of the city of Cambridge). A newspaper notice of the marriage might tell a different story. It is possible that the clergyman attended at a family farm for the marriage, but this then should be recorded in the pertinent county's register. |
Death | He died on 22 March 1873 at Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Co.. |
Note | At least initially, the names and ages of the children of Henry and Katherine are taken from the 1861 and 1871 censuses. This is probably not complete. Death reg. 008443-73 Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Co. Henry Kratz died 22nd day of March, 1873, age 39 years, mason, Lutheran. Place of birth Dukedom of Hessia, Germany. Physician and informant Dr. J. H.
