Catherine Camp
ID # 10056, (1835-1923)
Birth | Catherine Camp was born in 1835. |
Marriage | She married Alfred Revell in 1860. A marriage registration for Alfred and Catherine has not been found. They do appear, however, in the 1861 census in Beverly Township, Wentworth County. The census form has a column for the entry of the year of marriage for a couple. Alfred and Catherine show their year of marriage as 1860. In this census, Alfred is shown as age 25 and Catherine as 23, as of their next birthdays - if the question was correctly asked. With them, and apparently their daughter, is Hanna J. Revel, age 1, as of her next birthday. She must surely be Helen Jane. Either the enumerator had a hearing problem, or the child had yet to be baptized and there was a change of name. Alfred and Catherine are shown as belonging to the United Brethren church. |
Death | She died in 1923. |
Burial | She was buried at Sec. 4, Mountview Cemetery, Galt. |
Note | Catherine's years of birth and death are taken from the inscription on the family's gravestone in Section 4 of Mountview Cemetery in Galt. A death registration for Catherine probably does exist, but has yet to be found. The Hamilton branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a transcription, in PDF format, that is generally entitled A Collection of Smaller Cemeteries in Beverly Township. This includes the Camp/Skinner Burial Ground. The introduction includes a quotation from John Cornell's Pioneers of Beverly and this tells that some of the family preferred to spell the family name as Camp and others as Kemp. |
