Note | Birth reg. 036138-89 North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co. James Edwin Milroy born October 15th, 1888. Father James Milroy, farmer. Mother's name not given. Physician's name not given. Informant was George J. Jaffray, who was a newspaper proprietor in Galt. Birth reported on November 13th, 1888. The handwriting on the above has some problems, but informant, George J. Jaffray, appears to be shown as a newspaper proprietor. Other records show him as a printer. Just what he was doing reporting births on behalf of the Milroys isn't clear. James Edwin's date of death is shown here as it appears on the family's gravestone in section 4 of Mountivew Cemetery. A death registration for him has not been found. A funeral card has yet to be found. A newspaper death notice may well exist. What does exist is a record of his passing on image 6 of First Presbyterian Church, Galt, deaths. This is to be found on microfilm reel GS2987 at the Archives of Ontario. The record simply reads: Child of J. Milroy, (death) date Nov. 14/88. This does not give us a place of death for James Edwin, though he probably died in North Dumfries Township. Immediately following the inscription of James Edwin's name on the family's gravestone are the words: Also an infant son No name or dates are provided. Such records as may appear on pages for births or baptisms or deaths on the books of First Church do not make record of this child. It may well be that the child was stillborn. Mountview Cemetery's transcription of Section 4 was done by the Waterloo-Wellington branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society in 1990. This includes the cemetery's burial records for which there are no stones. No record is given for this infant son. Other area cemeteries have been researched, but, again, no record for this child's birth and death has been found. |
