It is not possible to tell from the Vernon Toronto city directories just for whom Gertrude was working. 71-1/2 Bleecker Street changed hands three times between the 1900 and 1903 directories. These are probably not entirely accurate over these directory years. The name of Marion Gertrude MIlroy is inscribed on her family's gravestone in Section 4 of Mountview Cemetery, Galt. She is shown there as being in her 17th year. There is no direct parental information on her death registration as filed in Toronto. The 9th image, however of First Church deaths (see Archives of Ontario First Church, Galt, reel GS2987) tells that she died in Toronto of scarlet fever. Also, Cambridge Archives records a funeral card. This tells that she died in Toronto on Sunday morning, February 10th, at 7 o'clock. The funeral is said to take place at her mother's residence at Little's Corners at 4PM, Tuesday, February 12th, to Mountview Cemetery. (Being this late in the day, Marion Gertrude's burial may not have taken place until the next day.) |
